We are considering trading vehicles with our friends to travel to Detroit from Boston to pick up furniture.?
We have insurance on our car and they have insurance on their van. Will we have to get special auto insurance to cover the vehicle during the time we will have it and vice versa? We will probably trade for 3 days max. We just want to be sure that if anything happens, we and the vehicles are covered. Insurance & Registration - 1 Answers

You need to get them to write a Letter Authorizing you to use the vehicle, and it would not be a bad idea to have it Notarized. I know this is a little bit of a hassle, but with this proof, you will have no problems if you do get stopped. The one that needs to write the letter is whichever one of them is on the Title and Registration. Also, have yourselves named specifically in the letter also.
