I live in Windsor - you'll be passing through Windsor on your way to Highway 401 up to Toronto/Niagara Falls. You definitely want to see the Falls from the Canadian side - the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls are much bigger and are the more famous of the two. You can take a guided tour (with raincoats!) behind the Falls or take a ride on the Maid of the Mist, which takes you up close to the Falls. Distance in Canada is in kilometers not miles. Gas is in litres, not gallons. Be careful on the 401, as they have implemented a new law regarding emergency vehicles. If you see an emergency vehicle on the shoulder of the road you must pass it in the outside (passing) lane. You cannot pass in the lane right next to the shoulder. There is quite a hefty fine for this and they are nailing people pretty steadily. Either exchange your money beforehand or at one of the casinos in Niagara Falls (which will give you the same rate as a Canadian bank). Do not, repeat do not, exchange money at the border exchange places or any tourism places on the highway - they are a ripoff. They have been closing down a lot of service centers between here and Toronto so gas stations are not plentiful along the 401. You would actually have to get off the highway and go a few miles to get gas. Make sure you have a full tank of gas as you head out of Windsor. Well, these are some of the things I can think of to help you out on your trip. Have fun! Oh, and bring lots of money - Niagara Falls is very touristy and the restaurants, etc. are expensive and a rip-off, but it is worth seeing the Falls.
