About Travelling from Detroit to Dayton is how many miles and how long would it take

Travelling from Detroit to Dayton is how many miles and how long would it take?
I'm doing some research on travelling status, and I'm trying to find out how long it would take for someone to travel from Detroit to Dayton @ the speed limit and 10 miles over. I want to know how many miles it is and what the average/estimated time of arrival would be for a car that has 30 miles to the gallon, on either a half or full tank of gas (fuel cap. is 16.5 gal.).

get a map and look up the distance or look at yahoo maps for the milage. then do the math. its not that complicated.
2 :
Generally speaking, without digging out my atlas,it is approx. 220 miles from Detroit to Dayton, ohio. At the posted speed of 65 miles per hour, it should take 3.30 to 3.45 hours to make the trip. it should be about 7.5 gal of fuel.

What travel agent or website offer very cheap flights from London to Detroit?

The era of really cheap flights is over due to rising fuel costs and the huge losses sustained by major airlines over the past 10 years. You can try Trailfinders www.trailfinders.com or if you're a student STA Travel www.statravel.co.uk
2 :
Skyscanner is usually good for comparing flight prices, you can get a one way flight from London to detroit from £421 depending on when you travel. See here http://www.skyscanner.net/flights/lond/dtw/cheap-flights-from-london-to-detroit-wayne-county.html?rtn=0
3 :
I get return flights from Manchester to Chicago for £500 ish with netflights.com. I'd look for something around that mark. Most places fly to Chicago O'Hare, and than transfer to Detroit, but if you hunt around enough, you might be able to get the change at the UK end (eg Aerlingus fly over to the USA, but there's nearly always a change in Dublin).

not two kids willbe lept in the airport. it must bea guardian is with them.... if still insisted there would be a consent should be sianged by the guardian state that no matter happen to the kids there be no responsability by the airlines. i rather let the kids travel with an adult caccompanied.
3 :
Probably not, but each airline sets their own unaccompanied minor (UM) policies. For example, take USAirways: ---Children under 5 may not travel without parent or legal guardian. -----Children 5-14 may travel unaccompanied on non-stop flights for an additional $100 fee each way. US Airways assistance is required. -----Children 15-17 may travel unaccompanied on non-stop and connecting flights without US Airways assistance. As you can see, it depends on the age of the child & the nature of the flight. In your case, they could fly alone *only* if the trip is a non-stop flight. I would also cost you an extra $100 per child *each way*, or $200 per child round trip. But this is USAirways' policy only. UM policies vary (slightly) by airline, and to the best of my knowledge, all of them charge at least $100 per one-way flight per child. And the UM service is typically required for kids under 12. For more info, you can check any airline's website for their UM policy.

About travel question about public transportation in Detroit, can anyone help

Travel question about public transportation in Detroit, can anyone help?
I am going to game 5 of the Stanley cup finals on Monday 6/2 in Detroit. I was hoping to get some advise on how to get from the airport to the Joe lewis arena. I was hoping for bus information, trying to avoid the cab thing. I have looked at the public transportation web site for the City of Detroit, but that was no help. So I am asking any Red Wing fan on how I can get to the game and see the cup skated on the ice. Thank you who ever writes back.

Yo dawg, It's Detroit. Jus' getcha 9 mil and carjack some mofo and threaten to busta cap in his @ss. Yo, straight up. Dat's ill foo'. Word.
2 :
My husband flies in and out of Metro every week, and we are not aware of any city buses that travel to the airport. The only transportation are the cabs or the hotel shuttles. Unfortunately there are not a lot of public transportation options. But if you're staying in the city, there's a good chance your hotel might have a shuttle, I would definitely check there. I'm sorry you will have wasted so much time and effort coming to Detroit to see your hopes and dreams crushed on the ice. ;) EDIT: Be warned, 2eighty8 has a really good suggestion, but it does not work in Detroit. You definitely want a method of transport that will take you directly to your destination. The closest bus stops from the airport are in not so pretty areas that aren't real tourist friendly...
3 :
Don't know how Detroit's bus and cab system works, but in Toronto (before buses went up to the airport), people would just cab it to the closest bus stop or subway station. Saved them quite a bit of coin as opposed to going straight to their destination. Just another option for you.
4 :
Catch a cab to Dearborn, (15-20 mins) ride the bus from there. Not bad at all, only 15-20 mins after stops to downtown. MDOT....Busses Semta ....Busses Good food (Middle Eastern) in Dearborn. Good food in Mexican Town S/W Detroit.
5 :
There aren't any buses that run from the airport all the way down to the Joe Louis Arena. Your best bet is to save some money and catch a cab. You can go straight down I-94 to I-75 (although there is some construction right there), take it to 375, and it'll curve right onto Jefferson. Stay in the left lane, go through the tunnel, under Cobo Arena, and the Joe Louis Arena is the big building on the left with the purple octopus on the left side. Have fun!
6 :
Your best bet would be to take Metro Cars or a cab (sorry). The buses don't run all the way out there and I wouldn't recommend them for tourists anyways. Of course you can always rent a car which might actually be cheaper depending on who you chose. If you decide to take that route, just head to I-94 east until you see the exit for Lodge south. Get off on that exit and it will take you straight downtown. Your best bet for parking would be under Cobo Hall which is really close to the arena. You can email me at my site below and I can find some great parking places for you as I'm headed downtown tomorrow for the Red Bull Air Race. Just go to "Contact" and fill out the form and I'll get back to you right away :)

Try megabus.com. Cheap bus trips from Detroit or Ann Arbor to Chicago.
2 :
The cheapest way to get to Chicago, without a doubt is going to be by Car. I drove to Chicago which was 4 1/2 hours from Detroit in Half a Tank of gas on my car. I have a Honda. Which means you dont even have to stop really all the way till you reach your destination, its fun and do able. Megas Bus is also an option, its cheap and it will take around 6 to 7 hours, depending on the driver and the amount of stops the driver or the majority of passengers feel like having. Train can also be a bit expensive. If you want free parking and your going from Downtown, go into the Greektown casino which is open 24/7 and park there, no one will do or say anything. I parked there for a weekend and came, its pretty nice. Plus, if you want more tips, search Detroit to Chicago on Yahoo Answers, a lot of items will pop up, this is a much travelled root for people in Detroit and Chicago and a lot of questions have been asked, as per distance, fastest way to get there and cheapest way to get there. Have Fun.
3 :
just fly... it's so much more convenient. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
4 :
I always take the megabus to Chicago. I go to Ann Arbor and take it from there.

Check with the major US carriers: Delta, American, and United, as well as some foreign carriers: Swiss Air, British Airways, and KLM that land in Nairobi, Kenya. Visit the sites of the airlines mentioned above and see if any of them have specials. Since your dates are flexible, you can also use travel.yahoo.com or travelocity.com to search.
3 :
I've heard of people being courriers. I don't know if you have to be a citizen of a certain country to do it, but you might do some research. I think some companies will pay for a good portion of the flight.

About travel itinerary suggestions for our trip to Detroit

Travel itinerary suggestions for our trip to Detroit?
We are planning to visit Utica, MI for a wedding in mid-August for a long weekend (probably Thursday-Tuesday). The wedding is Saturday evening. What should we do in the meantime? I would love itinerary suggestions! We are from the Washington, DC area and are pretty clueless about the Detroit area but hear there are some lovely/interesting places. We will have a rental car. EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions! Also, what about day-trips? Where would you go outside of the city?

If you like the Motown sound, visit the original home of the label at 2648 West Grand Boulevard. Here, the original Motown recording studio has been preserved as a museum. (It's amazing what great sounds came out of such primitive conditions.) There's also the Detroit Zoo, on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak. In Dearborn, you can visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. There are also three casinos in the city, if such places interest you; the MGM Grand, Greektown, and the Motor City Casino.
2 :
Detroit Zoo is outside the city ( its in Royal Oak) The Henry Ford museum and village is outside the city( its in Dearborn) if your in town the 3rd week of August- make sure you cruise on Woodward Ave ( most happening spot is between 15 mile and 9 mile) the annual Woodward Dream cruise is that Saturday but car enthusiasts are in town almost the entire week http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:R4OtnOnAmEIJ:www.madmanmike.com/woodward_dream_cruise.html+2011+Woodward+Dream+Crusie&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com Starting August 20th is the Michigan Renaissance Festival- in Holly MI http://www.michrenfest.com/
3 :
Greenfield Village is really fun and exciting for families or couples or whoever also if you love water parks there is one called Turtle Cove and theirs Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City.Frankenmuth is a fantastic day trip its called little Bavaria they have great food and shopping! Also Kenssington Park is a really fun park it has a beach and hiking and a farm!Need any other ideas let me know! This is a link to Frankenmuth website http://www.frankenmuth.org/ this link is for the henry ford http://www.thehenryford.org/

Most of the suggestions you were given were outside the city. I strongly recommend the Detroit Institute of Arts, where you can see Diego Rivera's famous mural (it spans four walls of the lovely Garden Court in the museum). Take a drive from Downtown east along Jefferson Avenue all the way to Metropolitan Parkway (16 Mile Road). You will pass through some more blighted parts of the city, but you will also see lovely Grosse Pointe, which was where the old money in Detroit lived (all the auto execs in the early days). Please stop at Pewabic Pottery, a famous and historic artistic treasure. If you take the People Mover while Downtown, you'll see Pewabic tile in some of the People Mover stations. You will also see it at Comerica Park (if you see a Detroit Tigers game). I've been to DC many times and I regret that we have very little mass transit, so you'll be glad you have a rental car. On the positive side, parking is cheap in Detroit. We want you to enjoy driving. There's a free lot attached to Pewabic Pottery, and the DIA has a low cost lot nearby (or street parking). While at the DIA, you'll be very close to the Detroit Science Center, which is fun with or without kids. I'm a lifelong Detroiter. Thanks for visiting our lovely city.
5 :
If you have a family, then the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village is something you have to do. If it's just adults, they have some pretty nice casinos.

About why are questions about traveling to Detroit so BORING

Why are questions about traveling to Detroit so BORING?
When I read about the questions about Detroit, I have noticed that they are so Boring. Why is that? After all, other cities like Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City has tons of travel questions, but why does Detroit travel questions have to be so boring?
Detroit - 5 Answers

1 :
Because most of the questions posted about Detroit are not really travel questions, they are questions mostly from people who live in the area and are looking for ways to either A. bash the city (most of the people) or B. The select few that are trying to make things better and promote the city. People go to Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York for vacation, usually out of towners only come to Detroit on business. Its sad, and I HOPE one day that will change but for now we got to keep working.
2 :
I don't think the questions are boring. I find most of them interesting.
3 :
Ya know...I was kinda surprised to see tourists (with cameras and everything) wondering around downtown Detroit last Saturday night. Even a bachelor party that was getting it's start at the Hard Rock.
4 :
I really like the questions here. If you have any travel questions I would love to answer them but it seems you are only here to make fun of a great city.
5 :
All of the former answerers are right. People are too busy trying to bash the city instead of discover the thing it has to offer.

About We are considering trading vehicles with our friends to travel to Detroit from Boston to pick up furniture

We are considering trading vehicles with our friends to travel to Detroit from Boston to pick up furniture.?
We have insurance on our car and they have insurance on their van. Will we have to get special auto insurance to cover the vehicle during the time we will have it and vice versa? We will probably trade for 3 days max. We just want to be sure that if anything happens, we and the vehicles are covered.
Insurance & Registration - 1 Answers

You need to get them to write a Letter Authorizing you to use the vehicle, and it would not be a bad idea to have it Notarized. I know this is a little bit of a hassle, but with this proof, you will have no problems if you do get stopped. The one that needs to write the letter is whichever one of them is on the Title and Registration. Also, have yourselves named specifically in the letter also.
